Background:
Continuing its push for initiative, discovery and respect for the conservation of the environment, the Associação Amigos do Cáster is once again organising the photographic competition as part of the “Ambiente e Imagens Dispersas 2022 – 18th Ovar Photography Journeys” (AMBID2022-18EFCO).
AMBID2022-18EFCO is characterized by the exploration essentially of photographic works – but not only -, of conservation and research associated with nature, wildlife and its conservation. It is in this context that this photography competition is organised.

Photographic Competition Structure:
The photographs sent to the competition must be within one of the following three categories: “Fauna”, “Flora and Hungus” and “Natural landscape / Habitats”.
Natural landscape/Habitats – Entries with sumptuous natural scenery Pictures with natural scenery of singular beauty.
Flora and Hungus – Entries with flora and fungi in the wild. Pictures of domestic species will not be accepted.
Fauna – Entries that capture the animal world in its natural habitat. Pictures of domestic species will not be accepted.

From these categories will result the following awards:

“Ambiente Imagens Dispersas 2022” Overall Winner: This prize will be awarded to photographic competition’s the best picture.
“Ambiente Imagens Dispersas 2022″ – Wildscapes and Habitats Award : This prize will be awarded to the best image of this category.
“Ambiente Imagens Dispersas 2022″ – Flora and Hungus Award: This prize will be addressed to the best image of this category.
“Ambiente Imagens Dispersas 2022″ – Fauna Award: This prize will be addressed to the best image of this category.
“Ambiente Imagens Dispersas 2022″ – Ovar Award: Will be classified from 1st to 8th place the best pictures of photographers who prove their residence or birth in Ovar municipality. In this category, a maximum of two pictures per author will be awarded.
“Ambiente Imagens Dispersas 2022″ – Ovar Schools Award: Will be classified from 1st to 8th place the best pictures of photographers who prove their attendance in a school in the borough of Ovar in the school-year 2020/2021 or 2021/2022 school year. In this category, a maximum of two pictures per author will be awarded.
“Ambiente Imagens Dispersas 2022″ – General Public Award: The entries will be classified from 1st to 4th place by means of a summation of online vote on the Associação dos Amigos do Cáster pages of social network Facebook and Instagram. The date will be announced through the usual communication channels of Amigos do Cáster. The submited images in this category will be pre selected by the jury. In this vote only participate the photos selected by the jury for this purpose.

Entrants:
The competition is open to everyone except to the event organizers and the jury.

How to enter the competition:

Entrants must send their photographs through this form, recording the requested data. To complete your registration you must send the submitted photos, as well as the proof of payment, via WeTransfer (www.wetransfer.com) to the email [email protected]
The deadline is the 19th of November 2022 (thursday), 23:59 (Portuguese Continental Time – GMT).
Entries must consist of a maximum number of 5 images per contestant, 3/2 format, in color or black and white, with a minimum of 3600 pixels on the longest side (except in the category “ovar schools” where the minimum is 1800 pixels on the long side), in .jpeg format, with maximum quality (minimum compression). Each picture can be valued by the author, through a comment in the “photo comment” field in the registration form. The comment cannot exceed 500 characters (no spaces).
For the Ovar and Ovar Schools categories, the jury will award a maximum of two images per contestant.
By submitting an entry, each entrant declares to know and agree with the Rules the Regulations of the Photography Competition Ambiente Imagens Dispersas 2022. By doing so, the entrant also allows the organization to use personal data for purposes related to the competition and other initiatives of this association.
All the photographs submitted to the competition must be the work of the entrant and must in no way constitute an act of plagiarism.
Digital manipulation of the photographs entered can only be allowed if it reproduces that which can be done in the dark-room i.e. framing, colour, brightness and contrast.
The original digital media must be available should the jury or the organization ask to see it.

Payment:
Entries will only be accepted upon submission of proof of PAYPAL invoice. This document must be sent in the ZIP File that contains the photographs.

Entrants from Schools in Ovar: Free Participation

Results Deployment:
The results of the competition will be made known and the prizes will be awarded at the end of the talk which marks the inauguration of the “Ambiente Imagens Dispersas 2022 – 18th Ovar Photography Journeys” on Saturday and Sunday, 10th and 11th of December 2022 in the gallery at the Centro de Arte de Ovar.
Should the entrants not be able to be present at the prize-giving ceremony, they should collect the prizes within a year at the headquarters of the Associação Amigos do Cáster, in Ovar, or they can be sent to their address but the entrant will be responsible for postage and packing.
All costs incurred due to the postage of prizes and/or the expenses necessary to enjoy the prizes which are not included in the prize itself, are the responsibility of the entrant.

Jury:
The jury is made up of photographers, conservationists and a member of the “Amigos do Cáster Association”.
The jury is responsible for the giving of prizes and for choosing the photographs to be displayed at the “Ambiente Imagens Dispersas 2022 – 18th Ovar Photography Journeys” event.
The jury reserves the right not to attribute any one of the prizes mentioned in the competition rules should it consider that the photographs submitted do not fulfill the requirements stipulated therein.
The decisions of the jury are final and unanimous and cannot be questioned.
The “Amigos do Cáster Association” reserves the right not to accept photographs that do not fulfill the requirements stipulated in this set of rules.

Omitted cases will be resolved by the organization.

Evaluation criteria:
Photographs will be evaluated according to the following criteria: relevance to the theme, technique, composition, originality and creativity. The relevance of each picture can be valued by the author, through a comment in the “photo comment” field in the registration form. The comment cannot exceed 500 characters (no spaces). For the “Ovar” and “Ovar Schools” categories, the jury will only award the two best images per contestant.
The jury may award a Mention of Honour to some entries outside the regular awards if it sees fit.

Photography Exhibitions:
Through this event an exhibition of the best images will be created.
Exhibition dates: 10th December 2022 to 3rd March 2023.

Observations:
All entrants give permission to the Amigos do Cáster Association to use the photographs submitted to the competition in order to publicize the event in a range of media such as website, catalogue, exhibitions, competition publicity, etc. without the competition organizers liable to any payment to the entrant.
The Amigos do Cáster Association undertakes to always mention the name or pseudonym of the author of the photograph.
Each entrant will be responsible for the photographs submitted.
The Amigos do Cáster Association exempts itself from any responsibility associated with the right to use images of people, buildings, objects, animals, products of a particular make or model, commercial or otherwise, as well as any other material of any nature when captured and used in the photographs submitted by the entrants of the competition, as well as any damage caused from being exhibited to the public.
The Amigos do Cáster Association assumes no responsibility for work which may not be in perfect condition or which may be mislaid for reasons beyond the Association’s control.
The Amigos do Cáster Association reserves the right not to accept entries which do not meet the requirements established in the competition rules and regulations.
Any situation that may arise which is not covered in the rules will be resolved by the competition organizers.
